Speaker sponsor at FANZ Conference & Investment Update

The Trustees recently met with the Trust's investment managers Jardens & JMI Wealth to review investment performance & strategies. Like all Balanced portfolios in the current investment environment they have been impacted in the past year by the downturn in global & local equity markets however the capital base has been retained with the combined portfolios at a 30 June a total of $2,120,820.

In the past year the Trust has again made a grant of $20,000 to Financial Advice NZ's research project “The Value of Advice” which built upon the previous report in 2-020 “Trust in Advice”.   The latest research showed the vast majority of Consumers say that their advice relationship is meeting their needs and that their financial security has improved as a direct result of receiving financial advice.  This strongly endorses the role of Financial Advisers on behalf of clients versus those without an Adviser.  The Trust are keen to see the outcomes of the research more widely publicised to promote Financial Advisers and the work they do.

The most recent grant made has been the sponsorship of Speaker Matt Church at the Financial Advice NZ 'IGNITE' conference in Christchurch this month.  As part of this a conference registration scholarship was also provided to Lisa Stott - a new Adviser commencing her career – to attend the IGNITE Conference.

The Trustees met in July 'in person' for the first time in 24 months, a welcome move since Covid dictated online meetings.  We are exploring ways to actively seek wider interest in grant applications or to initiate projects to further support Financial Advisers and the promotion of financial advice and we are keen to seek input from the Adviser community. Details of how to make a grant application can be found here.
